Another off-topic (but not really). Didja see one of the lead stories on the Channel 3 web site this morning? http://www.wfsb.com/story/19549729/teachers-strike-carries-risks-for-young-athletes
They'll find every angle possible to highlight the way that "teachers" are hurting the kids in Chicago. Of course it isn't explicitly stated. But most of America is so conditioned to buy into the "reformers" propaganda that I fear that's the message they'll take from this.

Yes, we are and we do it all the time. We design, implement and judge authentic assessments daily, weekly, monthly. It won't be a money maker for the deformers to allow the teachers to complete this task. It is better for them to continue to demean and destroy the profession so they can jump on the federal education gravy train. Funny how this same type wants small government in many other aspects of their lives. If it benefits them they want the $$$$$...,when it doesn't, it is intrusive. Arrogant hypocrites!

"Quantitative Psychology and Psychometrics" What the hell ARE those, anyway? And what do they have to do with evaluating the learning of children? How about experts in the subject areas, ie English majors, history majors, math majors. Better yet, how about TEACHERS of the subjects in question? Better yet, how about just let the TEACHERS evaluate how well their own students are doing? Aren't they in the better position to know--you know, spending the majority of the day with the kids for the better part of the year and all...
