Why did Bridgeport’s illegal Board of Education adopt a budget that is at least $14 million in deficit?

Even worse, the illegal board adopted a budget that counted on balancing that budget by unfairly pulling special education students out of their learning environment, an action that is probably illegal.

The people of Bridgeport…

Regardless of whether they support or oppose the changes that are taking place, whether they support of oppose Mayor Finch’s efforts to prevent Bridgeport’s voters from having a democratically elected board of education, deserve answers to the following two questions;

Why did the incumbent members of the present illegal board of education vote for a budget that includes what could be a $14 million deficit?  Those members are;

Robert Trefry, Board Chair

Kenneth Moales Jr., Member

Hernan Illingworth, Member

Michelle Black Smith-Tompkins, Member

And

What is the illegal board, and especially those incumbents who are running in the September 4th special election to select the new board , going to do to balance the budget before turning it over to the new democratically elected board?  What are they going to cut?  What taxes are they going to increase?

    Perhaps the board members failed to prep for the math sections of their tests,back in the day?

    These are valid and serious questions that must (legally, morally, and politically) be answered. Readers of this blog would very much appreciate a response–as soon as possible. School starts next week.

    This is long term strategy on the reformers part. By pushing through the illegal/deficit ridden budget they’ve set themselves up to lay the blame on the newly elected board.

    These reformers are as patient as Al qaeda cells. They’ll wait 10 years to get what they want.

    This is a tactic. Run the budget up, force taxes to be increased or incorporate mass layoffs to balance the budget.

    Their goal is to make the elected board look incompetent, then step in and take over.

    We haven’t had a disaster to wipe out the school system so they’ll create a financial disaster in it’s place.

      I am just beginning to understand the long term nature of their planning. This comment only increases my education. Amazing to consider such plotting and no consideration of the human cost. Kind of militaristic?
